Announcements made regularly at @darwinairport from our major airlines…
“…paging passengers [list of names given here] who have failed to board flight something to somewhere. Could these passengers please make their way to Gate 4 as the aircraft is fully loaded and awaiting immediate departure.”
A standard announcement, you might say. I totally agree. However, if the flight is missing some passengers it cannot be fully loaded, and in any case it cannot be “awaiting immediate departure”. The terms “Waiting” and “Immediate” are mutually exclusive.
I’m not slamming @virginaustralia or any of the other airlines (or even DIA) here, but it seems a little thought needs to go into the wording of some of these announcements.
Maybe something a bit Australian, like…
“Now listen you mob, get yer flamin’ arses onto the damn plane, so we can get outta here and go home!!! MOVE IT!!!!”
